Submissions Are Open!

Submissions for the 2018 Photog Fest Presented by Jostens are now open! Be sure to read over all of our contest rules and fill out the required release form before submitting. Any submissions that do not follow our rules and guidelines will not be accepted. We can't wait to see what you have in store for us! 


Categories

  • Academics & Community Service - Show students learning, in or out of the classroom.
     
  • Graduation - Capture the emotion, color and vibrancy of graduation day. Photos can be from the 2017 graduation as long as the photographer is or was enrolled in high school for the 2017–2018 school year.
     
  • Landscape - Landscape photography shows spaces within the world, sometimes vast and unending, but other times microscopic. Landscape photographs typically capture the presence of nature but can also focus on man-made features or disturbances of landscapes.
     
  • Photo Illustration & Manipulation - Photos in this category can be posed or electronically enhanced to illustrate a topic or idea. Examples of electronic enhancement include using filters, altering colors, adding/removing objects or people or combining photos.
     
  • Portrait - Portrait photography or portraiture is photography of a person or group of people that captures the personality of a subject by using effective lighting, backdrops, and poses.
     
  • Sports: Athletes in Action - Wherever they are, we’re looking for athletes in action.
     
  • Sports: Sidelines & School Spirit - Show moments that capture school pride in all its forms.
     
  • Student Life & Traditions - Capture student life in a way that showcases school culture and tradition.
     
  • Yearbookers in Action - Go behind the scenes and capture the making of the yearbook. Photos of staff selling yearbooks, engaging in team building activities, and traveling to workshops, in addition to working in the classroom, are all welcomed.

  •  Middle School & Junior High Category - Entries on any school-related topic. Must be taken and entered by a middle school or junior high student (Grades 6-8).

    *NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. Open to legal residents of the United States who are age 13 or older and who are middle school, junior high, or high school students as of the date of entry. Starts 11/15/17; ends 3/1/18 (11:59 PST).

Judges

Sophie Elgort

Sophie is a fashion photographer born and raised in New York City. She began snapping photos from a young age, inspired by her father, photographer Arthur Elgort. She received her degree from Brown University and interned in many parts of the fashion industry, learning from the best including Azzedine Alaïa and Vogue.

Sophie breathes life into every photo she takes and her take on fashion is always fresh and optimistic. Her work has been published in an assortment of publications including Elle, Glamour, Paper, Tatler, Teen Vogue and The Financial Times. Sophie has also collaborated with numerous brands including ADIDAS, Bloomingdales, Clinique, Etienne Aigner, IBM, Mercedes Benz, Olay, Ralph Lauren and Topshop. 

Sophie was named Forbes 30 under 30 in the Art and Style category in 2016. She has also been a guest speaker at the Rubin Museum of Art, Brooklyn Academy of Music and Pratt Institute and has been called upon by a variety of media outlets to share insights on the topics of photography, style and fashion including AOL Style, Look TV and The Financial Times, whose style column, Suits and the City, she co-created in 2011.


John Russo

John Russo is a top celebrity and fashion photographer. Originally from Ventnor, New Jersey, John has been in the photography industry for over twenty years. In the past he has photographed the likes of Angelina Jolie, Gwyneth Paltrow, Brad Pitt, and Leonardo DiCaprio. His work has graced the covers of Vogue, Elle, Glamour, Esquire, and Harper's Bazaar. Based in LA, John works in both editorial and advertising, photographing in locations around the world. John is currently working on a charity book, 100 Making A Difference, which chronicles one hundred philanthropic individuals and humanitarians. Along with their respective organizations, to name a few he has photographed Malala Yousafzai, Maria Shriver, Drew Brees, Sugar Ray Lenard, and Cindy Crawford for this book.
